BT has signed a multi-million-euro deal with UPC which will allow the cable operator use BT’s network to upgrade its services to six towns, The Sunday Business Post reports.

Sligo, Athlone, Mullingar, Portlaoise, Carlow and Newbridge will all benefit from the new UPC service underpinned by BT technology.

BT’s Etherflow service will be in direct competition with Eircom’s much-vaunted next-generation network, which is due to be launched later this year.
