CYBER SECURITY

Oct, 2010

An Eircom security expert has warned company directors they may soon be held liable for any loss of sensitive information through cyber security breaches, The Sunday Business Post reports.

Paul Dwyer, security GRC principal at Eircom, said  directors could be open to prosecution if it was found they had failed to properly secure customer information entrusted to them. This could occur when the government enacts new laws in relation to the international Convention on Cybercrime.

“The atmosphere is changing in the Irish marketplace,” Dwyer said. “Finally, this stuff is actually being taken seriously.”
