Aug, 2010

An Irish firm that develops technology systems for the car rental industry has signed a major partnership agreement with global car rental giant Dollar Thrifty Automotive. CarTrawler, the Dublin firm headed by entrepreneur Greg Turley, is to create a range of international websites for the US multinational, including sites targeting the Canadian and Latin American markets.
The Sunday Business Post reported that CarTrawler has also been hired to upgrade some of the company’s existing sites, including its web presence in Britain. CarTrawler will work on the company’s two main trading subsidiaries, Dollar Rent A Car and Thrifty Car Rental. A statement said that customers of Dollar Thrifty would be able to “book in any market, from any country, and in any language, using our platform”.
The value of the deal has not been announced, although it is understood to be significant. CarTrawler already handles more than €100 million worth of annual car rental bookings.
