DUMPING LEAFLET DROPS

A website that aims to cut business costs by replacing direct mail with online marketing has already  signed up more than 500 companies and is adding between 25 and 50 new clients a week. Dublin-based EasyDeals.ie was set up earlier this year by entrepreneurs Des Martin and Andrew Mullaney. It allows companies to advertise deals and special offers online and consumers can search the site by sector and locality.
In an interview with the Sunday Business Post, Martin says EasyDeals made it easier for companies to target relevant consumers with promotions rather than adopting the more costly approach of blanket advertising in areas and dropping leaflets in doors.
In the last month more than 20,000 consumers have visited the website. “The amount of promotional material being delivered is a real waste,” he added. “Most of it is going straight in the bin – it is not just an environmental waste, but a waste from a business point of view.” He says that EasyDeals provided a more targeted way to reach people at a fraction of the cost.
