In what surely is a sign of these straitened times, Buy & Sell, the classified advertising magazine and website, is to launch a cut-price DIY package for those looking to offload their properties.

According to The Sunday Business Post, for €99 householders will receive:

• A listing in Buy & Sell’s print edition
• A listing on its website until the property is sold
• Three ‘For Sale’ signs
• A brochure on how best to sell their home

Colm McCann, general manager of Buy & Sell, obviously thinks the new package will be very popular (otherwise he wouldn’t be launching it, one can only assume).

“We spoke to customers about it and believe there’s demand. It allows individuals to sell their house without paying a fee to an estate agent,” he said
