Happily, it isn’t just the suits at troubled foreign corporations who are feeling the need to get away from it all. The Sunday Independent reports dozens of wealthy bankers enjoyed a lavish junket to Ascot last week.
“The bailed-out bank splashed out on a €20,000-a-day private box entertaining guests at the royal race meeting near London last week,” the newspaper reports on its front page. “Top chef Richard Corrigan was also present as AIB fat cats soaked up the sun and enjoyed lavish hospitality in the €600,000 a year box”.
Whatever about the rest of it, surely they can hardly be blamed for enjoying the sunshine!
