The advertising spend on Irish broadcast and print media was slashed by more than 25 per cent last year, says The Sunday Business Post.
Using figures compiled by Nielsen Media Ireland (NMI), the SBP estimates that the sector is now worth in the region of €1.25 billion.
In contrast, online ad sales have grown and are estimated to have earned a further €80 million to €100 million last year.
Ireland’s top print and broadcast advertiser was consumer brand giant Unilever, which spent over €25 million. But this figure was down 22 per cent from its 2008 spend, said NMI.
