DISNEY IS COMING TO DUBLIN

Entertainment giant Disney has offered to buy the lease on the Laura Ashley store in Grafton Street in Dublin, according to the Sunday Tribune. Disney is currently expanding the number of stores in its portfolio world-wide – it is hoping to add at least 20 new outlets in Europe and North America, including one in Donegall Place in Belfast.

MORE iPHONES AS DEMAND INCREASES

The iPhone club is due to expand significantly over the next year and while the price of entry may not be much lower than it is at present, there will competition – focusing on special offers from the different providers. From Thursday next the 2.33 million customers of Vodafone will have access to iPhone , ending a two-year exclusivity deal held by O2, and another operator,  3, is planning to launch the popular Apple device in the autumn.

RETAIL GIANT EYES IRISH MARKET

British retail giant WH Smith is considering making a bid for the assets of the Irish bookstore chain, Hughes & Hughes, which went into receivership on Friday. Most of the Sunday newspaper speculated on WH Smith’s interest in the chain – especially the valuable Hughes & Hughes concession shops at Cork and Dublin Airports. The two airport shops continued to trade over the weekend.
