Noone Casey & the Presidential Candidates!

Michael-D-Higgins-Noone-CaseyThe Presidential Election is taking place on 27 October and we felt that the 7 candidates should make their views known on matters concerning Irish SMEs. We wrote to all candidates as follows:

Congratulations on being nominated for the office of President of Ireland. Noone Casey is a Chartered Accountancy practise with hundreds of indigenous Irish clients employing thousands of workers. Our clients are striving to continue to operate in ever difficult economic conditions faced with ongoing restrictions in available credit and reduced consumer demand. We are asking each of the Presidential candidates the following
question: How do you see your role as President improving the current economic
climate faced by Irish businesses? We will be posting the responses from each candidate on our website

To date we have responses from Martin McGuinness, Sean Gallagher and Gay Mitchell

Martin McGuinness responds to Noone Casey

Anthony a chara,

Martin McGuinness is known around the world as a strong, energetic and dedicated leader. He has through his position as Deputy First Minister at Stormont succeeded in bringing thousands of jobs to the 6 counties. He has met with CEO and business people from all over the world and many of the biggest corporations and foreign investors in the US further afield and has a track record of getting results in terms of job creation. Martin would use his international recognition to present Ireland as a great place to invest a vibrant place dynamic for foreign investors to do business.

Martin is also dedicated to supporting local industries and would be a friend to Irish  entrepreneurs which he would see as the cornerstone to long term sustainable prosperity and economic stability. As President Martin would use the position to promote enterprise and bring Irish businesses to the world stage.

Le meas

Martin McGuinness

Sean Gallagher response

The President has a vital role to play in the single greatest challenge facing us which is unemployment. Our next President should be able to speak the language of work so that:
· when abroad Ireland has another authentic voice at the top table when we pitch for foreign companies to locate here
· champion all the great Irish firms that have driven our export markets to new heights
· and offer an sympathetic ear to our small shops and businesses that are the lifeblood of villages and towns around the country.
We can turn around and elect a politician to the post but why not put someone in who is young, energetic, has worked in agriculture, community and youth groups, created jobs, become unemployed, started a business and always held the view that we have a great future and let's turn this country around.
We can put someone into the post whose view of life is through parliamentary windows in Dublin, Belfast or Strasburg or we can make a statement about the post – as we have done in the past 21 years – and elect someone who wants to turn the conversation around in this country based on his own optimistic view of our future.

Best wishes,
Seán

Gay Mitchell response

To Whom it Concerns

Gay Mitchell MEP believes a key role of the President is as a trade envoy.

His experience at home and abroad gives him a partciular (sic) insight into what it takes to fulfill this crucial requirement.

State visits will be focused on business links with a large trade delegation accompanying the President.

We will be posting the responses from the other candidates on receipt.
