JOSEPH O’CONNOR’S MOVIE

Nov, 2010

Author Joseph O’Connor is probably as well known these days for his radio diary on RTE’s Drivetime programme  but the prolific scribbler is on the verge of a major movie deal, according to a report in The Sunday Times.

It appears O’Connor’s best-selling novel Star of the Sea is being adapted by the makers of Intermission, a hit movie that featured Colin Farrell being hung out to dry in a telephone kiosk for his infidelities.

The book follows a group of passengers on a famine ship bound for America in 1847.

The project has already received funding from the Irish Film Board and will join a stable of would-be projects about to be filmed here.
