ABOLITION OF TAX RELIEFS

21
Mar, 2010

Government Ministers have been ordered to justify the retention of tax breaks relevant to their departments ahead of a cull on tax reliefs, according to the Sunday Business Post. They have been told by the Dept. of Finance to focus on schemes that were highlighted by the Commission On Taxation report last year, which recommended the abolition of a large number of reliefs and breaks.
The move comes as the Government faces continuing pressure on the exchequer as a result of falling tax revenues and the financial burden of recapitalising the banks
